Stabbing multiplying in France : French home minister adopting right wing rethorics and does nothing

migrants stabbing bordeaux

A few years ago, Bordeaux was, unlike Paris, a very calm and crime-free city, and was chosen by retirees.
After the former mayor planted a clandestines/invaders camp before leaving, stuff changed, of course.

A series of stabbings have plagued the city, and just a few weeks ago, for the first time, there were more than 1 attack during the same night. Last week (18th of July), more than 12 stabbings plagued the city. The authorities have released their origins, and of course, all the perpetrators are invaders.

Frédérique Porterie, the general public prosecutor of Bordeaux, confirms that this new aggression comes against a backdrop of increasing violence in the centre of Bordeaux. “Indeed there is an increase in knife attacks in Bordeaux since the end of the confinement. “The profile of those involved revolves around the minor migrants, the “mijeurs”, and young homeless migrants, “often grouped in squats. »

Bordeaux is not the only one affected: for instance all over France stabbing continue to multiply, and hundreds of attacks continue to pile up since last January.  Last April, in Roman-sur-Isère, a man, who the then interior minister Castaner called “on a terrorist trail”, killed two people and wounded four in a knife attack. Fun fact, it was in the midst of a containment period linked to the Covid-19 outbreak. “The perpetrator, who presents himself as a Sudanese refugee, attacked several people with knives in shops in the centre of the small town at around 11 a.m. He asked the police officers who arrested him to “kill him”, according to a police trade unionist, David Olivier Reverdy.

At the time, the Macron government rhetorics was to diminish the importance of all the attacks. Castaner, for instance, added, however, that the National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) “will have to decide whether or not to classify a man as a terrorist and it is up to it alone to do so.” According to witnesses quoted by a local radio station, he shouted “Allah Akbar” as he rushed at his victims. This lives very little doubt.

However, the current Home Minister, Gérald Moussa Darmanin (he is half Arab), used, for the first time in French politics, a term that has been previously used only by right-wing’s people.

After the deaths of Mélanie Lemée, Philippe Monguillot and Axelle, the Minister of the Interior hammered home the need to “stop the ‘ensauvagement’ of a certain part of society”. The term, which also exists in English but is seldom used, is a verb used to indicate the increasing violence of society. A term popularized by the book La France Orange Mécanique by Laurent Obertone, and recently taken up by Gérald Darmanin in an interview with Le Figaro.

But this choice of words has made some on the left furious. The Minister of the Interior declared that it was necessary “to stop the ensauvaging of a certain part of society” and “to reaffirm the authority of the State, and let nothing pass”. “I don’t like this word. I don’t like this word in the mouth of an Interior Minister, because it has connotations,” said Social Party National Councillor Eduardo Rihan-Cypel, speaking on BFMTV. For him, “we can very well mean and fight against delinquency and criminality without creating language problems that will insult or make people look like savages, primal beings or non-humans,” he added.

Leftists are always the naysayers.
Darmanin will not do anything, but the left will always cry about their poor migrants.
