Croatian Minister of Internal Affairs Davor Božinović met with the
Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Mektić, at the Ministerial Meeting of the Budapest Process in Istanbul to discuss security matters in both countries.
Minister Božinović said on Wednesday that the arrest of migrants suspected of terrorism in BiH is proof that states must protect their borders as Croatia does.
Božinović met with Minister Dragan Mektić at the Ministerial Meeting of the Budapest Process in Istanbul, who, as he said, reported on the arrests of six people in BiH, five of whom were linked to terrorism and one with organized crime.
“At this moment, authorities in BiH are working closely with partners and are conducting a comprehensive investigation, but this is another indication that states must protect their borders as Croatia does. Thus, this is confirmed by the validity of our approach, and it is our message to BiH and other countries that they have to protect the external borders, because if they do not work, everyone can come here”. Božinović said, adding that this case proves that among the waves of migrants can come persons who do not have good intentions towards Croatian and EU nationals.
Mektić confirmed on Tuesday that five illegal migrants from Afghanistan under special surveillance of security services in BiH have been identified as terrorism-related persons, adding that the final decision on what their fate will be will depend on additional checks which are pending.
“It is accurate information that the five identified are related to terrorism and terrorist activities, and currently are in the Immigration Center in East Sarajevo, their freedom of movement is limited and investigations of their journeys and stays are ongoing” When the whole story is over we will make a decision, ” Mekic said to journalists in Sarajevo after a meeting of operational staff in charge of illegal migration.
Five of the Afghans in BiH entered earlier this year, security services identified them by comparing biometric data. Along with them, another Afghan was arrested at the Immigration Center, suspected of having links with organized crime, specifically human trafficking.
A strong border makes a good neighbour. This episode is yet another example of why borders need to be protected and that the Leftist idea of open borders is a pipe dream.
