Massoel Shipping, the owner of MV Glarus successfully negotiated the release of seven Filipinos, a Bosnian, a Croat, a Romanian, a Slovene and a Ukrainian.
Twelve crew members of a Swiss ship seized off the Nigerian coast last month have finally been freed, Swiss judicial officials said on Sunday, October 28.
Lengthy negotiations between the owner Massoel Shipping and the kidnappers led to the release of the international crew, all of whom were later flown to Switzerland.
The crew members are still in Switzerland and are being ‘processed’ after their ordeal, and for security and privacy reasons their identities will not be revealed.
To remind you: the ship was transporting wheat from Lagos to Port Harcourt, in southern Nigeria, when it was hijacked in the Gulf of Guinea off Nigeria’s Bonny Island. That area is notorious for its pirate infestation.
The sailors are safe now and they’ll have one hell of a story to tell their friends and family.
