Known for her doe-eyed beauty and outspoken personality, iconic French film star, Brigitte Bardot, has come out once again this week in support of French presidential candidate; Marine Le Pen.
Not one to shy away from saying it as it is, Bardot, who has been on trial five times in the past for “inciting racial hatred” against Muslims, urged her Twitter followers not to back Macron in the upcoming second round of the French election. Bardot, who describes herself as “patriotic”, has instead set her alligience with Le Pen.
The actress is a keen animal rights activist who has described Macron’s plans for animals as “mortifying and scandalous”; and claimed there is “a total lack of empathy reflected in the coldness of his steel eyes.”
Bardot: Muslims Are “destroying our country!”
Bardot, who claimed in 2008 that Muslims are “destroying our country by imposing their ways”, is concerned that the growing population of Muslims in France is resulting in the country losing it’s “radiance and majesty”. She backed Le Pen to tackle this issue during an interview earlier this year when she claimed:
“I am very patriotic. I was raised by a father and a grandfather who fought for France and instilled in me a love of my homeland. I am not proud of what France is today… I’m not a ‘facho’ [facist], any more than Marine Le Pen is. Marine Le Pen will take France in hand, to restore and give priority to the French.”
She also claimed to be “against the Islamisation of France” in her 2003 book; A Cry in the Silence.
Bardot may be an outspoken supporter of Le Pen, who she describes as “the Joan of Arc of the 21st century”, but do the compliments stretch the other way? It seems they do.
Le Pen, during an interview in March in which she discussed Islam and immigration, claimed: “France isn’t Burkinis on the beach. France is Brigitte Bardot. That’s France!”
